UK slow to react in search for energy alternatives

Mark Wilson, Partner at Catalyst, highlighted the opportunities and threats for investors in clean technology at a seminar held in Birmingham on 28 May 2009.

Organised by the ICAEW Corporate Finance Faculty, subjects under discussion included wind and solar power, the more established renewable energies, and newer clean technologies, energy from waste to wave and tidal power.

Alongside other leading speakers from Monsal Ltd, Advantage West Midlands and Cobbetts LLP, Wilson also highlighted the potential for investors in anaerobic digestion as waste businesses transform themselves into energy businesses.

Another topic of interest to the audience was energy efficiency and many companies are now seeing significant savings from energy efficiency and those businesses in the sector are becoming increasingly attractive to investors.
