Grocer publishes Catalyst Fast 50 food companies research
The Grocer magazine, the UK's pre-eminent food & drink trade magazine, has published (12 September 2009) Catalyst's research into the 50 Fastest growing privately owned food & drink companies in the country.
The article (here) highlights Catalyst's findings that there are five key trends in the UK market at the present time, which are:
- Strong consolidation forces in fragmented sectors are driving growth
- Private equity which has shown interest in transformational portfolio acquisitions
- The growth of many companies is linked to a ‘back to cooking basics’ trend in evidence at present
- Fast growing niche companies are still targets for private equity investors
- Consumers are sticking with trusted brands, which impacts on the growth to new, younger brands
