Catalyst advised the incoming management team of Pelcombe Training (Pelcombe) on their management buy-in funded by Sovereign Capital.

Pelcombe is a provider of training and employability programmes to the unemployed or otherwise disadvantaged on behalf of government and the private sector. It operates 35 training centres across England delivering in excess of 50 employment and training contracts.

What difference did we make?

Prior to the transaction we had worked intensively with the MBI team to analyse the scope of the opportunity in the training and welfare to work market for a business such as Pelcombe.

This work proved significant upside existed if the business was reorganised operationally and focused on certain growth segments.

Our key challenge therefore was to design a funding package that not only allowed the acquisition process to be funded but also provided the MBI team with significant funds for future investment.
