Deal Summary

Catalyst advised on the joint venture between the Forestry Commission and the Camping & Caravanning Club (CCC) to form Forest Holidays LLP.

The CCC is the oldest camping and caravanning club in the UK, limited by guarantee, and operating almost 100 award winning leisure sites. From its Coventry headquarters, the Club has pioneered a number of leisure initiatives supporting national social movements with the aim of raising the profile of the UK outdoor leisure market.

Forest Holidays is the leisure division of the Forestry Commission. It operates a number of cabin and camping sites throughout England, Wales and Scotland, all at locations of outstanding natural beauty.

The significant investment by both parties in Forest Holidays LLP will enable the CCC to provide an additional 21 campsites to its members, facilitating an entry for CCC into the exciting cabin holidays market and enable the Forestry Commission to leverage its site infrastructure and leisure offering further.

What difference did we make?

As a result of our detailed knowledge of the UK leisure market we were able to advise the CCC on its strategic investment in Forest Holidays.

Our role as financial advisor included structuring English and Scottish operations, raising debt finance for both the CCC and Forest Holidays and deal management through to completion.

The deal required a flexible yet focussed approach over a long period of time from initial tendering right through to funds transfer.
